What Kind of City is Okinawa?

Okinawa Prefecture is located in the southwestern part of Kyushu. It consists of many outlying islands and Okinawa's main island, which is located just between Japan and Taiwan. The climate is warm throughout the year, with an average temperature of 22.7°C. Even in January, the maximum temperature can reach 20°C.

You can enjoy a culture very different from that of the Honshu, the main island of Japan where Tokyo is located)-- indulge in its unique cuisine that uses a lot of pork, tofu, and Okinawan ingredients such as Goya and Na-be-ra, and learn the local dialect called Shimakutuba.
There are no railroads in Okinawa. Taxis and buses are the main transportation methods. A monorail called "Yui Rail" runs from Naha Airport to the neighboring city of Urasoe. The Yui Rail has stations near Kokusai Street and Shuri Castle, popular tourist destinations in Okinawa. This is why it is recommended to use the Yui Rail when heading to these destinations.
